Dieppe-Maritime and the international market

Cooperation with Canada

Since 2004, the Dieppe-Maritime Metropolitan Authority, the Dieppe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Haute-Normandy International have joined forces to facilitate the development of economic, tourist and cultural links with French-speaking Canada, and especially with the Province of New Brunswick and Dieppe Canada City Hall.
In May 2006, an Economic Cooperation Charter was signed by and between the City of Dieppe France, the City of Dieppe Canada, and the Dieppe-Maritime Metropolitan Authority.

The three signatories of this Charter have undertaken to facilitate and strengthen the relations, contacts, and initiatives for trade-oriented exchanges by:

  1. Discussing the possibility of a comprehensive study on the economic potential of the local authorities respectively involved,
  2. Facilitating regular meetings, on an annual basis, alternately in Canada and in France for local elected officials and business leaders interested,
  3. Focusing on increasing the exchanges of information between our respective regions in order to promote all of them,
  4. Considering the mutual promotion of local products by organising at the same time in Canada and in France a "Canadian regions in France" week and a "French regions in Canada" week with interested tradespeople,
  5. Promoting the networking of companies in both regions.

Cooperation with the United Kingdom

The Dieppe-Maritime Metropolitan Authority has taken part in the INTERREG programme entitled the " Economic Development of the Normandy Sussex Area".
Completed in December 2007, the operation was designed to promote and jointly develop the Dieppe and East Sussex regions. It was hosted by the Dieppe Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the East Sussex County Council, and supported by European funds through the Interreg IIIA programme.
Its goal was the sustainable development of the economic ties and trade between the Dieppe metropolitan area and the County of East Sussex, and also to ensure the joint promotion of tourism in the "Normandy Sussex" border area around the cross-Channel link between Dieppe and Newhaven.
Several partners within the Dieppe metropolitan area are financially involved in this program: the Dieppe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Dieppe-Maritime Metropolitan Authority, Dieppe City Hall and the Department of Seine-Maritime. Technical partners, such as the Dieppe Tourist Office (which has since become the Dieppe-Maritime Tourist Office), the Departmental Tourism Committee, LD Transmanche Ferries, and Vitrines de Dieppe have also undertaken to implement the programme. In the United Kingdom, the only partner is East Sussex County Council.
